Circular Economy with EPEA Switzerland
In this course, we built on previous inputs, learnings and assignments about circular economy and Cradle-to-Cradle®. I learned to do extensive secondary on a specific product, to apply the Cradle-to-Cradle® design and certification process, and to create a document for a company to review the circular state of their product.
I learned to create a viable proposal on how the selected company can achieve Cradle-to-Cradle Certification®, to work out a project plan on a timeline showing a step-by-step process how the selected company can reach the highest possible Cradle-to-Cradle® status, and to consider the existing current product lines as a starting point, to assess their Cradle-to-Cradle® potential.

2022
Our team of four looked into the Swiss packaging industry, and the potential of designing packaging for circularity, and discussed the aspirational future scenario for more sustainable development. During our research and discussions on how to apply Cradle-to-Cradle® to packaging, we found ourselves struggling with only applying the method without consciously rethinking packaging usage in general. For this reason, we applied the method of Cradle-to-Cradle® to our chosen product but brought in the additional approach of packaging elimination.
For our Cradle-to-Cradle® application process, we chose the product “Fine shrink film polyolefin (PO) BSC-F bio-based” from a company called BVS Verpackungssysteme.
