Exhibition Design
During an elective module called IDA (Interdisciplinarity in Design and Arts), we created, planned, and implemented in a team of four teachers and sixteen students an exhibition for the Graphic Design Festival Weltformat. The subject of the exhibition was briefed by two curators and we got to work with the space of the Kunsthalle Lucerne.

2021
The theme of the Weltformat 2021 was “Designing Identity”. Our part was to create an exhibition on the topic of the visual identities of the Kunsthalle Basel and Kunsthalle Zurich.
The goal was to objectively introduce these two institutions. Both institutions have the same target group, form of their institution, and the same start of new directors. But they chose two different strategies for their visual identity: Kunsthalle Zurich has a CI and Kunsthalle Basel does not have a CI.
As I was the only design manager in the whole team, I could bring in my skills of highlighting the importance of the content of the given material, emphasise on the inclusivity of our design concept, and to make our exhibition meaningful. I wanted to understand the material and content that was given to us first before starting to prototype the space itself. With this, we as a team were able to create a more honest and valuable concept to communicate what really was behind the two perspectives.
Final Concept
After multiple iterations, our team came to the conclusion that a light and sound installation was the most suitable option to showcase the topic the best and make it an attractive experience for the visitors. We cut and included the given interview material into a 30 minutes long dialogue to give visitors an auditive experience when entering the exhibition space. We included subtitles so that language or hearing does not create barriers. The visual elements of the posters were set up outside of the space to imitate their function communicating to the outside world. While listening to the subjective opinions and statements of the directors, the room is filled with projected bigger questions on the function of graphic design, meaning of identity, and its relation to art.
We wanted to provide the visitor with the subjective opinions of the two directors, and give them bigger questions on visual identity.
